How to Dress for a Factory Job Over 50

How to Dress for a Factory Job Over 50

When you are older than 50 and punching the clock at a factory job, dressing appropriately is pretty simple. You just need to follow some basic, common sense guidelines.

Step
1

Check your company's dress code. There might be specific requirements as to what length your pants need to be, what type of shoes you must wear and how your hair should be styled.

Step
2

Go for comfort. Since you will more than likely be on your feet for hours at a time, the last thing you want is for your clothes to be bugging you. Comfortable doesn't have to mean baggy. Not only are extremely baggy clothes not flattering, they could be dangerous in a factory because they could get caught in moving parts of machines.

Step
3

Keep it age appropriate. Common sense applies here. Just like in an office or in the world outside of work, no one wants to see a 50-year- old dressed in clothes for a 20-year-old. Don't wear cropped tops, really low-cut tops, really low-rise jeans and pants that are too tight.

Step
4

Keep it simple. Jewelry might be prohibited at your company, but even if it isn't, limit yourself to one or two pieces, such as stud earrings or a wedding band. Avoid wearing pieces of jewelry that are big or that dangle because they could get caught on something.
